「住居」Dwelling除了提供人類本身一個遮風避雨的空間外，從人生活模式衍伸的行為目的，如居住、務農、生產加工、服務與經商等等需求。城市史紀錄了各種集體生活需要的演化，成為活動模式的，也發展成為構成城市的空間形態。
Dwelling is to find us shelter from the hardship in nature, then it became the goal of our life beside our living and working, no matter we are working in fields, in factories, in the service industries or self-employed. A city records the evolution of the collective life and a variety of needs of people sharing the same life. Activities in the city shape the spatial patterns of the city.
時代更迭，地景中的家屋群聚成為「城市」的現象與概念之後，工業革命所推動的都市化現象更加的催化各種的都市問題，城市與鄉村之間的辯證成為主要之一。隨著人口大量聚集于城市，造成城市快速的發展與擴張。「都市」概念產生於都市問題性質的轉變，大量使用石化燃料所建構的都市基盤設施，需要依靠不斷擴大來維持設施的運作。因此，農村長期以來被當作都市發展的儲備土地，因此種種的都市發展建設總是不利於都市周邊地區生態地景的維護，也造成今日「農村性」大量消失的作用。
As time goes, settlements grew into cities, and industrial revolution furthered urbanization, followed by many urban problems, and the dialectic between cities and rural areas emerge. A tremendous population moved from rural areas to cities, resulting in uncontrollable urban sprawl. Concepts regarding cities come from the changes of urban issues, for example, the infrastructure for vehicles consuming fossil fuel must expand to support its operation, thus rural areas have been treated as spare lands for the urban development. It endangers the landscape conservation of city outskirts, and the consequence is the disappearance of rurality.
農村發展應是有別於都市發展的軌跡，如何透過「農村性」的建構，體現農村世界的價值，能讓生物物種可以永續發展的生存空間，以及種種不滿於都市生活的居民開始可以往農村移動，接近一個心目中的農村生活與風貌。
The development of rural areas should differ from urban growth. The goal should be revitalizing rurality by restoring the value of rural environment so not only all the existing species can live, people who are not happy with urban life can move to farming villages to enjoy the rural life they have longed for.
面對這樣建築物漫延的農業鄉鎮市街的街道景觀，提出不同於汽車作為主導所發展出來的街廓模式，建構一個公共空間的協調框架作為生活資訊交換的平台。而不是隨處可見因都市計劃發展而失敗而呈現「半開發」的城市面貌。
In a village where buildings have sprawled all over the streets and alleys, this project proposed a pattern for streets and blocks that is different to the car dominated patterns. Public spaces constitute the framework of the spatiality and provide the platforms for people’s interactions. This project is to reverse the dilapidated scenes in farming villages because of the failed or unaccomplished development.
